A New Moon on the First Day of the New Year

If you are new to my blog or haven’t followed my craft in the discord chat or my TikTok you may not be aware of my obsession with new beginnings. For this reason, the new moon phase is absolutely my favorite part of the lunar cycle and it gives me a chance to consistently restart in areas where I have made mistakes. It keeps me moving forward and it prevents me from giving up. (For similar reasons my favorite card in tarot is the Death Card). Although many of us witches celebrated our new year on Samhain, many of us are still trapped in this level of society where we are counting the new year as beginning January 1st, 2022. Low and behold on this new year that I have been so deeply dreading now that my life and career paths are frozen by the pandemic, I discovered that tonight is in fact the beginning of the New Moon Phase. So what does that mean for us spiritualists looking for a sign in the year to come?

I would like to believe that for better or for worse the world at large is going to see a new phase. Which in this time of complete stagnation may not be so bad either way. I believe as wielders of nature we can take the opportunity to put our voices at the forefront of this change. Now by this, I don’t mean start teaching everyone witchcraft and handing out broomsticks (although that would truly be a sight to see) but rather we can take this time to try and make a change towards nature’s favor rather than against. You see, industrialization has been a rather common form of new beginnings the society at large has produced for us, and this birth of technology has taken its life from the trees, the springs, and the land. Connection to the world is what feeds us our power and if more change is to come I rather not be taken farther away from it.

Furthermore, I am hoping that this New Moon is providing energy that those of us who are happy enough to acknowledge/believe in can take advantage of. I plan to collect the moon water tonight with the special belief that a new kind of power is going to be born and that from this power I may start the next phase of my life. Perhaps we may all finally get the witch house in the mountains to run away too. We will have to wait and see.
