I really hate to add any information that seems to say that witchcraft is dangerous, I don’t find it to be more dangerous than hobbies such as football or MMA, it is arguably much safer than both. However, there are still risks that come with opening the door to the metaphysical world, and as such that requires a certain amount of protection. I give a general lesson on witchcraft safety Witchcraft Safety 101, however, I felt that it was important to give a more detailed lesson on this safety. In this blog post, I am going to focus on Warding.
Warding is a more developed form of protection magick meant to protect spaces and individuals over long periods of time against repeated unwanted energies. Warding is often used on a practitioner’s living space and spiritual space, as a method of repeated protection to keep them safe from spell backfires, negative energy/people, and metaphysical attacks. This is of course not to say attacks from fellow practitioners are common. I have been hexed three times in my life and one of those times I accidentally did it to myself, which is something to say as a practitioner with a presence on social media and 15 years of practice. Usually, magick comes from within ourselves and we can often cast unwanted energies into ourselves which is why warding your spiritual space or magick space is a useful tool. Wards can take place in many forms such as war water, sigils, plants, and other items charged with magickal energies. My favorite form is war water.
Properties of Wards
Before a ward can be put up it must be crafted. A witch must decide what kind of ward they wish to put up, which will vary based on what they want to do. Here are a few properties you can cast through your wards.
Negative Energy Banishment - Banishing Negative energy may seem like a simple enough spell, but it is something else entirely when you place it on a ward. I have seen people fall ill from interacting with my wards, people that I later found out were merely snakes in my life trying to find a way to stab me when I wasn’t looking. My wards did not only keep their energy from reaching but provided me with a warding for their negativity.
Protection from Metaphysical Attack - Protection from metaphysical attacks can be harder. If a practitioner is actively looking to break you down with repeated attacks, you may find it hard to keep up a ward that simply banishes negativity. This property adds an extra layer of safety. As I said previously attacks from other practitioners are rare, but there is nothing wrong with precautionary measures. I like to keep my wards in water form in glass containers. When I am being attacked the jar will leak even without any holes to leak from. I know something is coming my way.
Reversals - Reversal wards send back any negativity attempted to be sent to you back onto the person who cast it. This can be as simple as malocchio or as elaborate as a curse. Either way the person is sure to regret the attacks they have made and are more likely to leave you alone in the future.
Justice - Justice wards will send a punishment or justice spell towards those who attack you.
Warding
Once you have decided what properties you would like your ward to hold, you should be able to cast them. As I said previously there are many different ways to put up a ward. Wards are a more advanced form of spellwork because they require multiple energy sources in order to ensure they will be long-lasting.
Warding is an important addition to your practice and space. It does more than just provide protection. Wards create barriers around your person and/or space. Some people craft their wards, some people frow them, and some people cast them. Wards can be offensive or defensive, they can help banish, protect, or even ground. Wards can be replaced or recharged to strengthen them over time.
